RICH WITCH
This beautimous paperclay witch make-do is showing off her bewitchingly best Halloween hat, which is a rich purple with orange tinsil, sexy black feathers and vintage, prong-set rhinestones. After all, what's Halloween without bling? She carries a pumpkin for a purse, which I found at a garage sale. And, the base she sits on is an old Rogers Sterling salt/pepper shaker! For real! On the bottom, which is weighted, is stamped Rogers Sterling and some tiny numbers. I found this shaker and its mate in the attic of an old house I was renting around 1975. I've sculpted this lovely witch using an armature of wire and foil. I've woven the wire through the shaker's holes and into the armature, so even though you can move the witch around just a teeny bit, there's no way it's coming off the shaker. It and the shaker are one, you might say. The piece stands sturdily. It measures 10 1/2" tall.

This Halloween Hat, is inspired by the Pierrot pantomime clowns.
They always wore the large white floppy costumes, but it was always their
hats, that grabbed my attention.
This hat is simply made with black taffeta.
I left plenty of fabric so you can roll it up, or roll one side and leave the other down, very similar to a flapper hat from the 1920's. You can leave the cone up and pointy, or squish it down. It's just a hat to play with, and to add to. I've added some feathers, and ribbon, but you could add so much more to make it truly unique to you

My name is Linda Kennon, I don't think anyone in the art world knows me by that name. Most just call me "Gourdie"!
I am married with two sons, one delightful daughter-in-law, a handsome 3 year old grandson and a granddaughter on the way.
I am self taught at what I do, which for the past 20 plus years has been creating with gourds.
I love working with this strange fruit. You will find hundreds of them in and around my home just waiting to be transformed into whatever comes to mind, which is usually Halloween themed.
I use various clays with Apoxie being my favorite.

I am a self taught artist, and have created art, with many mediums for over 20 yrs.
I'm a firm believer in "Just do it", so I experiment! I have always had a great fondness
for anything, vintage Halloween. When I was a child I remember rummaging around in
my Grandmothers storage closet and discovered a box full of old Halloween decorations.
Those memories, were always there, nudging me, reminding me, that witches really do fly over a Halloween moon, that creaky skeletons and ghosties prowl the graveyards, and that each carved Jack-O-Lantern lights the way for trick-or-treaters.
Experimenting with paper mache wasn't easy, but I found that I loved the feel of that pulpy paper squishing between my fingers, and taught myself to create One of a Kind, pieces of folk art.

I remember as a small child being happiest with a piece of paper and a pencil in my hand. The adults in my life must have been thrilled that I could be so easily entertained. At least until that period when I pretended to be a dog and bit ankles. Apparently my imagination was thriving.
Fast forward to the present time and you'll find my imagination is still alive and kicking -- I have been seriously creating art (self-taught) off & on for about 30 years, always trying something new but forever coming back to sculpture. My favorite medium is paperclay or papier maché over dried gourds. The appeal that gourds have to me is in the endless possibilities their shapes suggest and I find they are an incredibly sturdy armature for my creations.
Halloween is my favorite holiday, where else can you find such a multitude of motley characters? I grew up reading a steady diet of Creepy and Eerie magazines and I tend to favor the darker side of Halloween so you'll find most of my characters sport a fiendish smile. I rarely do "cute" but can, upon occasion, do silly & sweet. I do love the look of folk art and whimsy & try to incorporate them in my work when it suits.

My name is Debbie Hutto and I'm a child of the '60's. I live in a little cabin in the woods of East Texas with my husband and two beloved felines. I'm a self-taught folk artist, concentrating mainly on Halloween, and the slightly odd. I love the traditional symbols of Halloween, and collect vintage Halloween memorabilia. I also appreciate the absurd, and have a very dark sense of humor. I work in several different ways, from painting on canvas, to painting on boxes and other functional items, to painting fabric, and last but not least, to clay sculpting. I've been creative for almost as long as I can remember. As a kid, I was never without pencil and paper, teaching myself to draw from comic books and Mad Magazine{Mort Drucker was my idol}. Decades later, I bought myself some artist brushes and a how-to book and haven't stopped since. I get my inspiration from vintage Halloween items, which I collect, and from books, movies, and oddly, music. Just listen to a song called "Horse Head Fiddle" by an old group named 16 Horsepower, and you'll understand what I mean.
When someone asks, "What do you do"?, I respond "I'm a Halloween folk artist". I always get a weird look, which I might sketch on a piece of paper for use in a future project. I don't care if I get weird looks. I'm doing what I was born to do.

I started painting black cats in memory of a very special feline I had for many years. His name was 'Black Cat' of course!

I live high on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Natchez, Mississippi with my husband and one spoiled Scottish Terrier.
My adventure in figurative sculpting or dollmaking, began with cloth dolls and I even had my own pattern line at one time. But,

Carmen Ellis is a self-taught artist. Born in Indiana, She took to art as soon as she was able to hold a crayon. Throughout her childhood, she developed an appreciation for the surreal & the whimsical and the paranormal. Her first cartoon like character was what she called a Greeblie. It looked a bit like a dust bunny with antennas. She would often sit for hours with pencils and pad dreaming up fantasy drawings and making comic strips. Her childhood love for Halloween, Sammy Terri and the late night horror movie turned into her now creepy cute folk art characters. Carmen was even her high school year book cartoonist with a small strip called Nemrac.
Now Older and wiser her love for art has turned into a fufilling home business. She gets to do what she loves from the comfort of her home. Jack O Lanterns

These primitive Jack-O-Lanterns are made from Osnaburg fabric. The fabric has been paint stained in various stages to give the wonderful look that each of these have. These Jack-O-Lantern are approximately 11" high and is 8" wide. The size does vary some. Some of this depends on the stem chosen for the Jack O Lantern. I have shown four kinds in this photo. We have the Green on the top right. We have the Burnt Orange in the lower right. The Lumina in the lower left and the Vintage in the upper left. These Jack O Lanterns come with a flicker candle that is battery operated.

Each of these Jack O Lanterns will be sold separately.

Halloween Witch

This Fairy Witch is a 12" figure sculpted from puppen fimo with legs and arms that can be posed. I dressed her in silk fabric and silk ribbons with mixed media wings (I understand that wings are faster than a broom). She has green artist made eyes and red wool for her hair. I gave her a stool to sit on although she can be placed where ever you may need a Witch or a Fairy. She carries pumpkins which can be removed if you wish to display her year round.

AUTUMN CAT

I found this old wooden, footed bowl at Canton First Monday flea market, which I invade several times each year. This is a somewhat oval shaped bowl has been sanded and hand painted in high quality artist's acrylics and sealed with several coats of satin sealer, with a fine steel wool rubbing between coats for smoothness. The bowl is very simply done in black, a peanut butter tan, and vintage white. The cat is from an original drawing I did. Such a sweet little profile she has! She was inspired by Cassie, our newest cat, who has such a sweet, calm little face. This painted bowl would look great displayed all year long, especially in a primitive setting. It measures 11 1/2" across and stands about 3 3/3" high, including the feet. This bowl is suitable for WRAPPED edibles only, such as wrapped candies. To clean the bowl, wipe it with a slightly damp soft rag.

Poe Tribute Feral Art Quilt

I call my quilts feral because they're a bit untamed but constructed with great care in a traditional quilting manner. This one is a tribute to the legendary author, Edgar Alan Poe. The original painting in the center features some characters you may recall from his writings: a black cat, a raven, Annabel Lee and a Gold Bug. Lots of random stitching over fabric scraps of dupioni silk and cotton make up the background which is enhanced with antique buttons and other embellishments. The top and bottom are bordered with tiny black rosettes.
This quilt measures approximately 11" x 12" and hangs via a dowel pocket hand sewn on the back. Signed and dated.

I love Fall and I just completed my last bunch of Jack O' lanterns happily rolling in their Autumn leaves. These are so fun! I found this wonderful weathered wooden tray with handles that is perfect to hold these little cuties. It's 18" by 6" so there is plenty of extra room for candles or even some candy. This is so eye catching sitting on a dining room table or by the front door. There is 5 of them all together and they are buffalo gourds with paper clay sculpted stems on top and about 3" tall. These are 5 brand new Jack O' Lantern designs from me. The candles are not included but the tray and the beautiful tiny silk leaves are. These are one of a kind originals and no molds are ever used. Pete the Pumpkin was made with a cannon ball gourd and RePete was made
using a coyote gourd.
Their dimensional features were sculpted with a strong air dry clay.
RePete is an ornie that measures 4" with a 3" beaded hanger.
Pete has a special key that hangs from a string of beads that is around his neck. (do pumpkins have necks?)
I don't know what the key unlocks, maybe you can get him to tell you!
